Batuwangala village economy directly dipends on growing tea.But farmers do paddy farming aswell. This is most of the time to cover their own use of rice. Not like in the norh western part of the county there are no large scale padddy farming with this part of the county. But for certain extent people grow paddy.

The paddy harvesting season was just passed in the batuwangala village. This is done by farmers them selves. There are lot of traditions and customs before the harvesting occur. The first thing is to having the gods blessings to the task. This is for making sure that it doesnt rain or any natural calamity occur. Most of the time people harvest in groups and helping the participants with their part of harvesting vice versa is evident.

The grown paddy plants are cut with a sickle and laid down to be dried by the sun light for some time. Then this lightly dried paddy plants are tightened to a bunble and collected to the place where they process.
After gathering the raw paddy plants they use the harvesting machine to seporate the seeds from the hey.How ever it is herd in ancient times the bulloks were used for this purpose.Using this harvester ther seporate the paddy and hey.Tte paddy here seporated are not clean and clear for 100%.But roughly they gather the paddy in to bags.

This paddy bags then again under go a round of dring. Then they wind the paddy for seporating the wastes in it.Then the well dried paddy goes to the stores.Pictures were lively captured by batuwangala evillage students for the web.We would like to thank the elders who helped us with this information.
