Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya is the only one School in Sri Lanka with a hydro power plant of its own.This story was covered by Local Television Channel "ITN" for their one popular Tv show called 'Venasa" on 4th January 2012. Batuwangala evillage utilized inside the Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya, along with the Practical Action started A hydro power plant project. Batuwangala evillage experiences difficulties to pay for electricity. Mr Rohitha, From Practical Action programme Came to help us. The power plant, generating 850W for batuwangala evillage. Using this power supply ,The computer lab is operating computers by Charging UPSes.

Hon.Senior minister Piyasena Gamage Visited Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya to day 4th of January 2012 for supervising development projects under go at the monument in the BMV premises.Lot of other officials and Neluwa pradeshiya saba members along with the chairman Mr.M.I.G Sunil were also there.Majority of the staff and Aruna Sir also were in school even at 4pm.
Hon.Sinior minister Piyasena Gamage instructed contactors and parent regarding development of Batuwangala Maha Vidyalaya and listened to the parent and teachers too. After being more tan thirty minutes in Batuwangala maha Vidyalaya Hon.Senior minister Piyasena Gamage inspected every thing. We would like to thank him and his crew for considering BMV and Helping us.

Karuna Trust Along with the Batuwangala Rajamaha Vihara organized different kind of prize giving to the students.Last year, 2011 programme schedule and rules were introduced to the children and documents which are required to be signed by the Sunday school teacher and public school teacher and a time table for the year of 2011 were also given. process is students who become first in the class and also have gone to Sunday school with out being absent will be given the basic requirements for the following school year. So Ven.Varukandeniye piyarathana, Came to BMV and distributed prizes for the student for this school year of 2012. Finally teachers were given a small book let which includes base ethics and Role model core advises describe in Buddhism. Karuna Trust sponsored all the present and we should appreciate the moves of karuna Trust as they fulfill a must for modern day society, add Ven. Varukandeniye piyarathana Finally.
